The battery is always the same. What differs is where you are starting from: with or without a connection, with or without a grid-operator contract on the table.

Which situation do you recognise?

Expand a connection

You have a connection, but it is too light for what you want — and upgrading is either impossible or years away. A battery absorbs your peaks, letting you use far more capacity than your contract allows, with nothing about the connection changing.

Who it is for: Businesses with an existing connection that cannot be upgraded in time: manufacturing, workshops, distribution centres and companies looking to electrify.

New connection

You have no connection yet, or not the capacity you need, and you are in the queue. The way out almost always runs through a restricted offer from the grid operator — and a battery is what makes that offer usable after all.

Who it is for: Developers and business owners realising a new site or scaling up sharply, who are told by the grid operator that there is no room for the time being.

CSC, BPC and blokstroom

CSC, BPC, blokstroom, CBC — four names that all come down to the same thing: you get room on the grid, provided you fit in with when you use it. They are not only for people stuck in the queue: a CSC or biedplichtcontract can just as easily sit on a connection you have had for years. Here is what is actually about to happen, and what it is worth.

Cut grid costs

Your grid charges are set by your highest peak, not by what you consume over the year. A few quarter hours set your bill for twelve months. Flatten those peaks and you structurally pay less — capacity problem or not.
